At Calabash Leather, we understand the importance of durability when it comes to school bags. That’s why we only use genuine leather (Vegetable Tanned A Grade) in our school bags, ensuring that they’ll last for years to come and are light weight too.
Our leather school bags come in a variety of designs, with both Shoulder sling and backpack-style shoulder straps available, providing extra shoulder or back comfort.

Made from Genuine thick Vegetable Tanned leather (see the Wikipedia insert below) - which offers books and textbooks great protection as this leather is carefully selected to not only be very strong and durable, but beautiful to look at too. Our leather school bags are built to be admired and loved and this leather ages so well too. We offer Classic and Vintage school bags.

Our leather school bags are available in 3, 4 or 5 compartments. Our "Lewis & Finn" range has two big front pockets so in essence the Lewis is a 6 compartment bag. The big front pockets are great for storing pencil cases, note books and class tools like
calculators and rulers.

We use A Grade Vegetable Tanned Hides for our school bags. Read full article here from Wikipedia: Vegetable tanning uses tannins which occur naturally in the bark and leaves of many plants. The process also causes the hide to become more flexible. The primary barks processed in bark mills and used in modern times are chestnut, oak, redoul, tanoak, hemlock, quebracho, mangrove, wattle (acacia; see catechol), and myrobalans from Terminalia spp., such as Terminalia chebula. Vegetable-tanned hide is not very flexible. It is used for luggage, furniture, footwear, belts, and other clothing accessories.
